11 Pakistani Military Personnel Killed in Clashes with India, Says ISPR

Islamabad: Pakistan’s military media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed on Tuesday that 11 personnel from the Pakistan Army and Air Force were killed during last week's clashes with India.

According to the ISPR statement, six soldiers from the Pakistan Army and five members of the Pakistan Air Force, including a squadron leader, lost their lives during the cross-border hostilities.

The Army personnel killed in action include Naik Abdul Rehman Khan, Lance Naik Dilawar Khan, Lance Naik Ikramullah, Naik Waqar Khalid, Sepoy Muhammad Adeel Akbar, Sepoy Nisar.

The Air Force personnel killed in Indian strikes include Squadron Leader Usman Yousaf, Chief Technician Aurangzeb, Senior Technician Najeeb, Corporal Technician Farooq, Senior Technician Mubashir.

The ISPR noted that the total number of military personnel killed stood at 11.

The statement also revealed the heavy civilian toll resulting from Indian airstrikes conducted during the night between May 6 and 7. The strikes killed 40 civilians, including seven women and 15 children, and left 121 injured, among them 10 women and 27 children.

Following nearly four days of intense hostilities, both India and Pakistan declared a ceasefire on Saturday.

In response to the casualties, Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced a comprehensive compensation package for the families of those killed or injured in the Indian attacks.

According to the Prime Minister's Office, the families of deceased civilians will receive compensation of PKR 10 million each, while the injured will be provided between PKR 1 million and PKR 2 million, depending on the severity of their injuries.

For military personnel, compensation will be determined based on rank. Families of martyred soldiers will receive between PKR 10 million and PKR 18 million. Additionally, they will be given housing support ranging from PKR 19 million to PKR 42 million, also based on rank.

The government will continue to pay full salaries, including allowances, to the families of deceased military personnel until the date of their scheduled retirement. Their children will be granted free education up to graduation.

Furthermore, the government will provide a marriage grant of PKR 1 million for one daughter of each fallen soldier.

Injured military personnel will receive compensation ranging from PKR 2 million to PKR 5 million, depending on the nature and extent of their injuries.
